Snowball Fight Link Roundup + Meridian Hill Park Season Wrap-up #snOMG

20091219-snow-002

Good morning! We hope you enjoyed this truly unique and fun weekend in the District snow! And, wow--was not expecting this kind of reception from reporters regarding the 14th and U St snowball fight. The (inter)national media & local blog coverage:

Finally, I want to show you Meridian Hill Park during the snowstorm compared to earlier this year: busy & golden; changing colors for the fall.

Photos: First Annual DC Food Bloggers Costume Contest, with Tasty Prizes!

One of reasons why we love U Street corridor. We stopped by the 14th Street Farmers' Market to find a costume contest, for both kids and adults, organized by a collection of DC food bloggers (see the invite: Adventures in Shaw). Among the prizes: Biago Chocolate and Saint Ex gift certificates. Fun!

Photos: Have You Seen the New Doggie Park on New Hampshire and S Streets NW?

Aw! Look at these cute things having a blast at New Hampshire and S Street's new park. Construction finished last week. I took photos but the park was, well, empty. Here are some fun snapshots I took with my iPhone:

Hours of operation

The park also includes an area for humans, and a drinking fountain.

DCist has sweet photos of the park, if you like seeing Mayor Fenty.

Paul Bedard's Honey, Straight From the Hive!

Right around this time every year, US News political scooper Paul Bedard gathers honey with his family in Purcellville, VA. He packages the stuff in little bears that proudly wear his self-made labels. The sweetest thing I've seen! The honey is selling for $6 a bear. Want one? Send me a message or find Paul on Facebook.
